The City Council originally voted against giving the money that would secure Grand Junction as the starting point for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. A few weeks later, they Council has changed their mind.

The Grand Junction City Council voted Wednesday night to host the race according to KKCO. With the backing of Business from all over the Grand Valley, the money raised was close to $100,000 in pledges.

The second time for the vote has made the difference, and the Council decided they will pay the $85,000 bill that will bring the bike race to the Grand Valley. Business will still continue to raise even more money to keep the amount the City will pay even lower.

According to Christi Reece who is a supporter of the race:

The race would be held in August in Grand Junction.
