Don't blame us, but Grand Junction ranked in the top 10 worst places to live in Colorado, and it's all based on numbers.

RoadSnacks looked at 103 Colorado cities with a population of 5,000 or more, to get down to brass tacks what makes the worst city in Colorado. Employing data from the FBI, the government census, Bureau of Labor statistics and Sperling’s Best Places they looked at the following benchmarks:

  • Population Density
  • Highest Unemployment Rates
  • Worst Home Values
  • Adjusted Median Income
  • Education - spending and student-to-teacher ratio.
  • Crime Rate

According to all these statistics, Western Colorado didn't fare too well with three cities hitting the top 10.

Making its way to the number two spot was Delta. With the highest student-to-teacher ratio, some of the lowest public school funding and an unemployment rate of 6.8%, and minimal indoor entertainment, Delta doesn't seem like a desirable place to reside.

Delta's neighbor, Montrose, hits the list two spots behind its neighbor to the north. Montrose has a higher unemployment rate, the lowest public school spending, and a high crime rate that contribute to boosting them higher on the list.

Coming in at number six is Grand Junction, which is a surprise to us. With all great indoor and outdoor activities, Junction seems like a great place to live, that is until you look at the numbers. High crime rates, high unemployment rates, and low education spending took its toll on Grand Junction's ranking.

Other Colorado cities making the top 10 were Pueblo, hitting the top spot, Alamosa, Trinidad, Stratmoor, Cortez, La Junta and Greeley.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with this list?
