A Grand Junction teenager has been arrested and is in custody in connection with the death of a woman on Monday (February 13).

On Monday afternoon, Mesa County Sheriff Deputies were called to investigate a death in the 500 block of 29 1/2 Road.

Deputies found a female victim identified by the Mesa County Coroner as 61-year-old Linda Smith. The cause and manner of Smith's death are currently under investigation.

As part of the investigation, on Friday (February 17), Sheriff Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for 14-year-old Stephanie Hauck in connection with Smith's death.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Hauck is facing charges of Manslaughter and Assault in the Second Degree with a deadly weapon causing injury.

Hauck is in custody and being held without bond in the Colorado Division of Youth Corrections' Grand Mesa Youth Services Center.

The investigation into Smith's death is active and ongoing. All documents related to this case have been sealed by the court.
