If you are hoping to supplement your income this summer, Grand Junction Park and Rec is taking applications now for several seasonal job opportunities this summer.
Many of the jobs being offered are ideal for younger people, who may be on summer break from school. Other jobs would be suitable for a variety of ages. Here's a look at some of the jobs that are being offered.
SWIM INSTRUCTORS AND LIFEGUARDS
Interviews for these positions will start in late January, although applications are being accepted until April 8. Lifeguards will work 20-40 hours per week and the pay ranges from $12.63 to $13.60 per hour. The minimum age is 15.
GUEST SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE
This person works directly with the public collecting admission fees, doing program registrations, answering questions, and providing excellent guest relations and interaction. The pay ranges from $12.32 to $13.60.
RECREATION LEADER I
This is a person who assists with summer camps in Grand Junction which run from May until August and the hours range from 30-35 hours per week. If you enjoy interacting with children and young people and have experience leading this age group, this could be a good opportunity for you. The pay is $12.32 per hour.
RECREATION LEADER II
This is a position with a lot of responsibility to implement and supervise recreation programs within summer camps. Teaching, leading, and volunteer experience is highly desirable. Positions work 35-40 hours from May through August and the job pays $13.27 per hour.
RIVER PARK HOST
Hosts serve as ambassadors for the park at Las Colonias engaging and educating the public on the proper use of the ponds, trails, and the park in general. The positions run from May to early September and the pay is $12.94 an hour.
SITE SUPERVISOR
This person is responsible for day-to-day scheduling of activities, staff supervision, motivation and scheduling, management of disciplinary procedures, and contact with parents. Required experience includes teaching, leading, and/or volunteering with children. This is a 40 hour per week job from May through August and the pay is $14:64 an hour.
URBAN FORESTY MAINTENANCE
Duties and tasks for this position will focus heavily on aiding in pruning and removal operations, planting of new public trees, and plant health care treatments. This is a good position for someone with tree maintenance experience and loves to be outdoors. This is a seasonal position of 40 hours per week with a pay wage ranging from $14.99 to $15.74 per hour.
