I can't imagine anyone ever thought beer and macaroni would go together, but the reality is they do- at least in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Southwest Arborfest is a long-standing Grand Junction event now in its 18th year. While the annual spring festival has been a regular April fixture at Lincoln Park, exactly what you'll find on site has changed in recent years.

For quite a few years, Southwest Arborfest, put on by Grand Junction Parks and Rec, was known for its chili tasting and competition, live music, trees, and beer. It's still basically the same festival, but in recent years attendees have been sampling mac and cheese rather than chili.

For $5  you can sample different varieties of mac and cheese. How many different ways can you do mac and cheese? Good question. I guess you'll have to come to Southwest Arborfest to find out.

If you enjoy beer tasting, you're in luck. For $20 (in advance) you can sample craft beer and cider with your mac and cheese and enjoy live music from the likes of Tm and Richard, Wave 11, and Union of None.

Admission to the festival April 27 at Lincon Park is free and it goes from noon until 5:00pm. As usual, there will be tree giveaways, and stuff for the kids like "Touch a Truck" and tree climbing. Get your taste buds ready for mac and cheese and beer.
