The good news for weekend travelers is that they can expect the lowest prices they have seen on Labor Day weekend in more than 10 years.

According to Market Watch, average gas prices have declined 15 days in a row - the fastest decline since December. That sets things up for the cheapest Labor Day gas since 2004.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline nationwide is at $2.45, compared to $3.43 a year ago. Grand Junction gas pumpers are paying in the vicinity of $2.70-$2.80 per gallon, well above the national average, but still below the national average of a year ago.

Regardless of gas prices, weekend travelers can expect a high volume of traffic across the state - especially on Saturday and Monday.
