Grand Junction Fire Department Station 6 Opening Next Week
We have been driving past what is now Grand Junction's newest fire station for years, wondering what they were building and when it would be done. Now, the construction on Grand Junction Fire Department Station 6 is finally complete.
Grand Junction's new fire station is located at 729 27 Road, which is Horizon Park. Equipment and furniture are currently being moved into Grand Junction Fire Department Station 6 and it's almost ready to open.
According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, the official opening will be next week -- Monday, November 9. Construction on the new fire station started on March 23 and eight months later, the station is done and will be open next week.
Station 6 at 729 27 Road in Grand Junction is 10,000 square feet and according to the GJFD will have:
- A ladder truck and ambulance crew
- The crew will able to cross-staff a wildland engine and desert rescue ATVs
- 22 employees
A total of 22 employees will be working at this new fire station in Grand Junction. According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, the station area cover over 6.5 miles and almost 10,000 people.
Station 6 in Grand Junction is one of three new fire stations. It's the first one to be built after the First Responder Tax was passed.
