Let’s Bring ‘Letters to Santa’ Back to Grand Junction Colorado Television
Do you remember the Grand Junction television show "Letters to Santa"? The program aired on a local television station back in the 1970s and 80s. Chances are either you or someone you know probably appeared on the show.
Wouldn't it be cool if we could get this program back on the air in Grand Junction?

Classic Grand Junction Television of the 1970s and 80s
"Letters to Santa" gave little ones a chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa himself. The show lost its sponsors and disappeared like a snowflake in the Sahara. Wouldn't it be cool if the show came back to TV?
The program was awesome. Little kids from around Western Colorado would sit on Santa's lap to share their Christmas list. For those too young to read, Santa would do the honors. The show would feature kids of all ages. I think some were old enough to drive themselves down the KREX studio.
Afterschool Favorite for Grand Junction Kids
The show ran mid-afternoon on Grand Junction TV station KREX. I seem to recall seeing it at 3:30 p.m., right before reruns of Star Trek.
"Letters to Santa" gave all new meaning to the term "low budget." The show's set was somewhat minimalistic, but it did the job. The elves were typically high school kids. In any case, parents had a chance to SEE their kid on local TV, and everyone was happy.
The video above is from a show similar to Grand Junction's version. Check out the video, and you'll get a general idea.
Triumphant Return in Grand Junction
A couple of years ago an effort was made to resurrect the show. What started out as a blog on this page turned into something of a reboot of this classic show. For the year 2018, the show, in an entirely different format, returned to KREX in Grand Junction. Letters were featured during the morning news leading up to Christmas Day.
What do you think, should we get this show back on the air? I suggest this as if I have some say in the matter. If 'Letters to Santa" were back on the air, would you watch it? For that matter, would you put your kids on the show?
