It is no secret Grand Junction is Western Colorado's hub for business and shopping. Now, a study finds it is one of the best in the state.

One of the reasons for Grand Junction's rating is the number of stores to shop at and the rewards stores offer shoppers. The study, conducted by Smart Asset also researched the best credit cards with cash back rewards for shoppers to use.

The study measured several factors including total number and concentration of different types of stores in a particular area and the average FICO credit score of shoppers in that area. Those cities with higher scores, received more points in that part of the study.

The study also took into account sales tax rates and crime rate statistics, concentrating on property crimes. The lower those scores were, the higher the points that city received.

Grand Junction placed 8th in the study. Here's what the study found. The number of stores in a specific category per square mile is 1.2. The average sales tax rate is 5%. Average credit scores are 685. The property crime rate per 100,000 residents is 5,047.
