A Grand Junction baby named Maisie has spinal muscular atrophy, which is terminal. Her insurance company recently decided to cover her $2 million medicine.

Maisie is a 19-month-old baby, who has a progressive terminal disease, type 1 spinal muscular atrophy. Just earlier this month little Maisie was denied covered by her health insurance company.

Now here's the good news. Maisie's health insurance company, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, changed their mind. The insurance company reversed the decision and is now covering the treatment she needs.

Spinraza is Maisie's current treatment, which slows down the progression but doesn't stop it, according to her mom. This Grand Junction baby can now get the medicine she needs thanks to her insurance company's change of heart. Her medicine is called Zolgensma and it's $2.2 million.

Maisie's mom posted a tearful live video on a Miracle For Maisie Facebook page announcing the good news. She exclaims we did, we did, between tears. 'My baby is going to this treatment' she says 'my heart is so complete right now' and goes on to thank everyone for all their support. See Maisie's mom's video here.
