Everybody knows what a mess I-70 travel has been since the rockslide that closed the highway for several days, but, along with all of the travel hassles for motorists has been the affect on bikers who like to do the scenic ride along the river.

According to the Post Independent,  the eastern section of the bike path in Glenwood Canyon between the trailhead at Dotsero and Hanging Lake was expected to be open this past weekend. That at least gives bikers a nice stretch to get out and do some pedaling.

The western section of the path, from Glenwood Springs to the Shoshone Rest Area, had previously opened to bikers, however, the section between Shoshone and Hanging Lake remains closed due to damage from the rockslide.

Repair work is on-going in the canyon, and is expected to be completed by early May.
