A Rifle teen who was attempting to car surf has lost his life according to the Rifle Police Department

Most people know Drinking and Driving don't mix. Common knowledge right? But what about attempting to surf on a moving vehicle? Normally this would not be something that you think your child would attempt, but it happens.

In this case, Kyle Scholla, 18 who was attempting to surf was thrown off of the vehicle, which caused major body injuries. The student passed away when taken off of life support. His name has not been released.

The driver of the vehicle was also 17 years of age. No word at this time if there will be charges filed in the case. The District Attorney for Rifle said that there have been cases where the driver can be charged with homicide.

When speaking with the Rifle Police Department, I was told that it is important to have a conversation with your kids, no matter age, regarding putting themselves in the way of danger. Knowing that when we are young, we feel indestructible and think that nothing can happen to us. In this case, we learn that it can.
