A Grand Junction fugitive, Jixi Kruckenberg, who escaped capture by local law enforcement in January has been arrested and is now in custody.

Jixi Kruckenberg, 36, was seen by a Glade Park resident around 7:20 a.m. this morning, (Tuesday, March 6) at the entrance to a property on DS Road about four miles west of the Glade Park Store.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, the truck Krukenberg was driving had run out of gas and was blocking the entrance to the resident's property.

Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the area and were able to arrest Kruckenberg. During their investigation, they determined the truck had been stolen in Utah.

Kruckenberg is being charged with Felony Counts of Vehicular Eluding and Escape from Felony Conviction. He also has warrants for his arrest by the Grand Junction Police Department and Parole Office.

In January, Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies located Kruckenberg in Fruita, but he fled before an arrest could be made. Law enforcement were unable to locate him but did locate the truck he was driving abandoned in Glade Park.

Residents in the area where the truck was found were told Kruckenberg was in the area and considered armed and dangerous. It is unknown at this time where Kruckenberg has been hiding since avoiding arrest in January.
