Alright. As you can see, I’m not a blonde. I tried to dye my hair once, and I ended up looking like a very poorly disguised drag queen. Not really what I was going for. As a chronic brunette, I have often asked myself, “Do gentlemen really prefer blondes?” Or, more importantly, “Do the dudes I try to date really prefer blondes.?” (Considering most of them likely aren’t gentlemen, I didn’t want to discriminate.)

Can I share a little story with you? If not, don’t read this paragraph. I was out having a drink with a friend a few nights ago, and a very sweet, young guy was trying to flirt with me. Aww. “I decided something just last week!” he proudly exclaimed. “I used to be attracted to blondes, but I decided they were bad for me, so I decided to like brunettes now!” he gingerly “cheersed” me in celebration. I politely clinked my glass back at him. Now, I’m (mostly) a kind and helpful lady so I thought I’d give him a bit of advice. I leaned in with a devilish smirk and said, “If you ever want a brunette to like you, don’t ever start with ‘I decided to stop going after girls I’m attracted to! You’re in luck!’”

It got me thinking though. I’ve dated guys who habitually have dated blondes before me. Is the cliché true? Here is the simple answer that I’m using to solve my brain cramp: Who cares? I’m usually more attracted to guys that look like models. Ya know, six pack, dreamy smile, big blue eyes, etc. However, when I meet them, I usually hate them and end up dating someone I… well, like. Did I settle? Not at all. I just ended up dating someone I liked and thought was attractive.

Do you feel attractive? Hopefully, most days you do (We can’t be HORIBBLY healthy, now can we?). If so, I say screw it. They wouldn’t be talking to you if they didn’t think it was worth their time.

I hope you weren’t looking for some sort of bogus survey. :)

Make your day beautiful today.
