CSU Study Finds One Major Reason Women Swipe Left on Tinder
A new study from Colorado State University is shedding some light on what makes people swipe left, or-say-no to your profile on Tinder.
Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science researchers have come to a conclusion that men who like cats are less likely to get a date.
Scientists showed hundreds of women photos of two men. One man was holding a cat, the other man wasn't. As the study progressed, researchers found that responses for the man holding the cat were drastically worse than the no cat photo.
According to the study, 38% of women said they were "likely or very likely" or casually date a man with no cat in his photo, while 37% said they'd consider a long term relationship. However, when shown a photo of a man with a cat, the numbers dropped to 33%. Meanwhile, the number of women saying they'd "never even consider" getting involved with cat man rose from 9% to 14%.
One researcher said this:
Women prefer men with ‘good genes,’ defined as more masculine traits. The presence of a cat diminishes that perception.
