For many of us, the upcoming holiday time is so exciting and fun but some kids here in Western Colorado will need some additional food resources over the upcoming holiday break. District 51 knows there is a need for meal packs for students and they released information about four-day meal packs that will be available.

The four-day meal packs will be released on Friday, December 18th to those students in need. These packs will include four days worth of food for breakfast and lunch and are available without cost to anyone in Mesa County who is 18 years old or younger.

You will be able to pick up a meal pack outside R-5 High School located at 455 North 22nd St. in Grand Junction starting at 10:00 a.m. going until 2:00 p.m. Parents or guardians of students in Mesa County can also pick up these meal packs, a student does not need to be present.

The Breakfast meal packs will include cereal, pre-packaged pancakes, and french toast, a granola bar, and juice. The Lunch meal packs will include four entrees (grilled cheese sandwich, pre-packaged pizza, corn dog, and a Lunchable), three tangerines, two potatoes, two bags of carrots, and some applesauce. Students are also welcome to grab a half-gallon of Meadow Gold milk.

These meals will all be on a first come, first served basis. If you're needing some food assistance please know you are not alone this holiday season. Click here for some additional resources you should know about.

Don't forget, the meal packs are available Friday, at R-5 High School beginning at 10:00 a.m.
