CSU Students Protest Blackface Incident On Campus

During President Joyce McConnell's first fall address today, she was met with the voices of hundreds of students protesting. After Colorado State University decided not to take action about a student blackface incident that went viral last week, many students were eager to voice their outrage.

McConnell spoke of the protests kindly, saying that students "are exercising their First Amendment rights" and that she's very proud of them.

But it doesn't stop there.

According to The Collegian, students also chalked the plaza, known for encouraging differing opinions of all kind on campus, with messages such as "CSU sides with racists" and "no more blackface". The messages were initially erased, but after students spoke out, CSU was forced to apologize:

It seems like students are just asking for change from CSU and its leaders, wanting the campus to take a stand for social justice.
