A Colorado woman plans to run 100 miles on Friday to raise money for front line workers and first responders.

Kalyca Zarich says that running has kept her grounded during some of the most difficult points of her life. This Friday (May 8), she's going to pay it forward by running 100 miles to raise money for care packages to give to front line workers and first responders of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zarich told The Denver Channel that her motivation isn't the distance, but the "mental fortitude and courage it takes to keep going."

Running has kind of been a lifesaver for me. You can turn one way to drugs, alcohol… destruction, or you can turn the other way and take charge of your life. Try and pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep moving forward, literally one step at a time.

Back in December, Zarich started training for a 100 mile "foot race." However, the race has since been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. She turned her disappointment into a mission. She says you can take one of two roads when you're disappointed. You can feel down, quit or be defeated, or you can just "keep pushing forward."
