Colorado’s Largest Ever Hailstone Fell on Tuesday
The largest hailstone to ever recorded in Colorado fell in Bethune on Tuesday (August 13).
The Colorado Climate Center measured the hailstone at 4.83 inches and 8.5 ounces. It was over a foot long in diameter.
The woman who found the hailstone claims she didn't put it in the freezer for 30 minutes, so the original could have been even bigger.
The previous record was set at 4.5 inches in 1979.
