Students looking to get a degree in cannabis studies will now have their chance.

CSU-Pueblo will be offering a degree in Cannabis Biology and Chemistry this fall, making it one of the first such programs in the country.

Students will have a choice of how they wish to study as well, with the "natural products" track focusing on biology and the analytical track that will focus on chemistry.

With a degree in these disciplines, a graduate would then have the option of going to work for the government, or a job in the cannabis or hemp industry as well as the ever-changing landscape for products that can be made from cannabis.

With marijuana sales approaching the $7  billion mark since 2014, it becomes more evident that safety ought to be at the top of everyone's list, and offering a degree in cannabis can help keep it safe for those who do wish to consume it.

The Colorado Department of Higher Education believes this is the first of many such programs that will be available in the state in the very near future.
