We all know the tunnels on I-70 because we've tried to hold our breath in them — and failed (they're over a mile and a half long). The claustrophobia-educing Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnels run east to west as you travel on I-70 between the Front Range and the ski resorts, and the thought of a car fire inside one is a little terrifying, but that actually happened this week in the Johnson Tunnel.

Fortunately, CDOT is prepared for these (uncommon) emergency situations. CBS4 Denver reported that in recent years, CDOT installed a 'multi-million dollar fire suppression system,' and it's a good thing they did. No one was injured during this incident.
