Body Recovered From Colorado River Identified as Missing Teen

The Mesa County Coroners Office has positively identified the body recovered in the Colorado river on Sunday (July 10) as that of missing teenager Alex Head.

The teen was reported to have disappeared by friends who were swimming with him last Wednesday (July 6) in the Colorado River near 32 Road.

Search efforts were unsuccessful until rafters on the Colorado River spotted a body along the edge of the river between Fruita and the Loma boat launch on Sunday (July 10). The body was recovered by local authorities that afternoon.

The Coroner has ruled the cause of death as accidental drowning.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up by a friend of the family to help with the loss of income while the family helped search for their son, and now funeral expenses.
