It seems today's kids dress way more provocatively than they used to. Are they breaking dress codes with the way they dress?

Our offices are located right down the street from the Grand Junction High School, and let me tell you, the way I see some of these kids dress makes me embarrassed/ashamed for them.

The ones that really grab my attention are the kids who have disheveled hair, wear tons of makeup and their shorts seem to be three or four sizes too small. I just want to tell them to go home and cover up!

When I went to school, the statutes were strict. Girls could not wear anything that was above the knee (skirts or shorts). Boys were required to have some type of polo or collared shirt and jeans or dockers. There was also a rule that said you were not able to wear any clothes that exposed skin, or that were ripped.

The dress code for Grand Junction states:

Expectations: a. Students are expected to dress appropriately and groom themselves for school and activities in a way that promotes personal, school, and community pride! b. Clothing should always be neat, clean, tasteful, and modest. c. Clothing must cover undergarments and conceal traditionally private areas of the body, including but not limited to the stomach, buttocks, upper thighs, back and breasts

Do you think Grand Junction Schools enforce the dress code like they should? We'd love to hear what you have to say.
