For those people who live in the Grand Junction area, I have a question for you – are you complaining as much as I have about how cold it’s gotten in Grand Junction?

Granted, Grand Junction has broken a couple of overnight low records in the last week, but that’s nothing compared to a new coldest record being reported in Antarctica.

Recent data from a NASA satellite reveals temperatures were recorded in East Antarctica at 135.8 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.

Scientists say this is by far the coldest place on earth, and that this temperature is so cold that it actually hurts to breathe.

And, if you’re wondering, this new record won’t make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Why? Because the temperature was recorded by satellite, and in order for the record to be official with Guinness, the temperature would have to be recorded at ground level using a thermometer.

Trust me, that is one job that I do NOT want.
