The Episcopal Church of the Nativity is hosting their annual "Animal Blessing" this Sunday.

Just in case you didn't know, according to American Catholic St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and Christians everywhere celebrate the feast of St Francis by having their pets blessed. Apparently St. Francis was a Roman Catholic that took the gospel literally by following all Jesus said and did.

But according to Catholic Saints online, Saint Anthony the Abbot is the patron saint of animals because of his regard for all animals during his lifetime. The article goes on to say that prayers are considered more likely to be answered by asking a patron saint for intercession on their behalf.

If you have a pet or pets you would like blessed, head to the Episcopal Church of the Nativity located at 2175 Broadway this Sunday at 3p.

The invitation I read ask for cats to be brought in their carriers and for dogs to be reminded of their manners. Also to call Terri at 242-5016 if you plan on bringing Donkeys, Lamas or Alligators!

They also host their Monthly Animal Service "Paws for a Blessing" the 1st Sunday of every month from 5 to 5:30p

and a Memorial Candle Light Service for Pets that have passed away November 4th at 5p, they invite you to share your pets photos if possible.
