5 Reasons to Celebrate Valentine’s Day With This GJ Big Band

Are you looking for an elegant way to celebrate Valentine's Day in Grand Junction? Meet the Swing City Express.

You've seen this band several times over the last few years. Most recently they played a number of concerts at Warehouse 2565 Kitchen + Bar. Shortly before that they performed a1940's tribute concert. Somewhere in the middle of it all they released their new album.

This Valentine's Day, February 14, the Swing City Express will perform at the annual Valentine's Dance for those age 55 and better at The Commons of Hilltop.

Just how many people are in that band? The group consists of 16 members - four saxophones, four trumpets, three (sometimes four) trombones, piano, bass, and drums. Most performances feature two outstanding vocalists - Scott Betts and Leah Rachelle.

If you love to dance, this is the way to go. It's hard to imagine a better Valentine's event. Why should you make the effort to catch this band? Better yet, why should you become a fan? Here are five solid reasons:

The lineup of the band is something of a Who's Who of Colorado. The band leader is Clark Gault, a former member of the Norad Band, an internationally recognized composer and arranger. The band also features Scott Betts, Charlie Sweet, Rob Labig, and Frank Bregar.
