I've always wanted to take a cross-country road trip — seeing the Statue of Liberty or visiting Universal Studios for the first time would be amazing. Unfortunately, life's daily happenings make it pretty difficult to hit the road.

However, we can be tourists in our own state (I know that sounds like a cop-out, but at least it's not a pandemic-era 'how to have fun in your own house' idea). And thankfully, Colorado makes it easy to do.

ProMoverReviews recently compiled a list of "must-visit" attractions in the U.S. — and the Centennial State popped up three times.

The company's first pick was Strawberry Park Hot Springs, located off of County Road #36 in Steamboat Springs. The springs are open right now, but thanks to COVID-19, masks and reservations are required to enter the park (you also can't bring tequila...not that I know this from personal experience).

Their second pick? The ice caves in Rifle Mountain Park. According to Uncover Colorado, the caves are formed by natural freezing and thawing patterns every winter. Located sixteen miles north of Rifle, the attraction is open from December to February.

The company's final pick was Cano's Castle, located off of Highway 285 in Antonito. Vietnam veteran Dominic "Cano" Espinosa built the castle out of beer cans and other knick-knacks as a thank you to God for sparing his life in the war. He also claims that God built the castle — and that Jesus has lived there since 1987.

Each location is over three hours away from Northern Colorado, but you could try and make a day trip out of them...if you're really ambitious. Otherwise, I'd go with a three-day weekend and a mountain rental.
