A major dog food company issued a massive recall for several products. The recall states certain dog foods contained low levels of pentobarbital, a drug used for euthanizing animals.

The J.M. Smucker Company contacted retailers carrying Gravy Train, Kibbles 'N Bits, and Skippy wet dog food products. The memo stated the recall was issued “because a minor ingredient may contain low levels of pentobarbital.”

According to 4CBS Denver, Pentobarbital is a sedative used to treat insomnia. When given in large doses, it can induce death. The notice from Smucker's states the amount found was "extremely low." They claim it poses no risk to pets, but it's presence was "not acceptable."
