If you lived in Western Colorado between the 1950s and the 1980s, you know all about this place. Well, it's for sale, and you should buy it.

Back in the '70s and '80s, if your course took you anywhere near Delta, you certainly stopped at this establishment on the north end of town. Do you remember the old Dairy King? It's on the market, and while I'm no expert, the price seems right.

Have you ever given thought to own your own business? Have you considered going into the foodservice industry? From what I understand, the secret to owning a restaurant is "location, location, location." The old Dairy King drive-in restaurant is one of the first buildings you encounter if you're heading from Grand Junction to Delta.

What exactly is a Dairy King? It's kind of like a Dairy Queen, but with a little hometown flair. It was a great place to go for a burger, ice cream, or any one of a number of other treats. Many Western Colorado residents, my bunch, for example, would stop at the Dairy King while making runs back and forth to the sawmill in Delta.

According to recolorado.com, the building at 1558 Highway 50 in Delta was built in 1955. It comes in at 1,819 square feet and sits on 0.8 acres. How much for this little beauty. The recently reduced price is $175,000. Interestingly, that price is well below the average price of similar properties in the area.

What's included in the price? According to recolorado.com:

Previously a drive-in Dairy King Restaurant, this property includes all appliances, equipment, fixtures, restaurant supplies, and all other items currently in or attached to the building. This half-acre commercial lot is zoned B-2 for many business uses. Building includes restrooms, drive up window, drive-in bays, tons of restaurant equipment and supplies including a huge commercial outdoor Bar-B-Q oven, walk-in cooler, ice cream/malt/slushee machines, grill and hood plus a WHOLE LOT more. Even a retro Super Pac-Man video game and other games! Dual Highway entry off busy Highway 50 with very high traffic and INCREDIBLE VISIBILITY! With a bit of TLC, this property can again be the gem it once was!

As a life-long Western Colorado resident, I would really get a kick out of seeing this place back in business. It wouldn't necessarily have to be Dairy King, but a comparable drive-in would be cool.
