Is the summer heat getting to you? Is it time for a cool, refreshing adult beverage? A Western Colorado chain restaurant has something interesting for the month of July.

I'm not much of a drinker, but even I find this one a bit interesting. In the event I find myself wanting a drink, nothing hits the spot like vodka. In this case, they're breaking out the good stuff.

Each month Applebee's restaurants nationwide offer a drink special. Usually, they're fairly common drinks, and typically run $1. The month of July is a little different.

For July, they proudly present Grey Goose and Cranberry for $3. Okay, $3 isn't exactly $1, but it's still fairly reasonable for a mixed drink. Personally, I've never tried this. As a matter of fact, to date, I've never tried any of their monthly drink specials.

Are there any health benefits associated with cranberry juice? Tons of them. According to organicfacts.net:

Cranberry juice is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and salicylic acid. By containing only 45 calories per cup, cranberry juice fits very well within the dietary guidelines. Cranberry juice also contains 87.13 g water per 100 g. [2] It provides energy, protein, and carbohydrates. In terms of minerals, it contains calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and zinc. It also contains vitamins like thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), and vitamin K (phylloquinone).

Do you see that? This is a health drink. Okay, maybe not so much.

A call was placed to the Grand Junction Applebee's on Horizon Drive. They are, in fact, offering this drink at the price of $3 for the entire month of July.

Looking at the National Weather Service predictions for the next few days, the forecast reads:

  • Thursday - Hot
  • Friday - Hot
  • Saturday - Hotter
  • Sunday - Hot
  • Monday - Hot

If you're like most anyone else in the valley, there's a ton of yard work and housework in your future. Why not cool off with a Grey Goose and Cranberry?

Speaking as someone who rarely drinks, and certainly never drinks at a restaurant or bar (I'm too cheap), even I find this one intriguing. This may very well warrant a trip out to Horizon Drive. There's an ultra-nasty yard-reclamation project coming up which will more than likely kick my butt. When it's all done and over with, a Grey Goose and Cranberry might just be in order.
