Watch My ‘Super Fly’ Fly Fishing Adventure on the Grand Mesa
After learning how to fly fish on Wednesday, I was ready for an adventure. Watch this video of my superfly fly fishing adventure on the Grand Mesa.
Thanks to my friend, Tyler Morris from Western Anglers, I took the trip of my dreams. We prepped for our adventure by teaching me how to fly fish the day before. I've been wanting to learn how to fly fish and after a few minutes and some tangled line, Tyler taught me and I was ready for the Mesa.
We hiked about two miles in and two miles out to the most beautiful fishing spots I've ever laid eyes on. The views of mountains, meadows of wildflowers, creeks and more made the trip even better.
I saw so many greenback cutthroat trout on the Grand Mesa, it felt like something out of my dreams. Before I took this fly fishing adventure, I'd never seen a greenback cutthroat trout.
These trout are my favorite and are absolutely gorgeous. Each and every one of them is unique, I saw their colors range from white to dark green. And within five minutes of getting to our first fishing spot, we caught a beautiful greenback cutthroat trout.
You can see my casting skills in the video above. I love doing the roll cast. Which according to Tyler, isn't an easy one to master. It was easy for me because I had a great teacher and because I'm pro. (Just kidding, but I am working on it.)
I'm so happy that Tyler Morris from Western Anglers took the time to not only teach me how to fly fish but to take me on this superfly fly fishing adventure. I can't wait to see where fly fishing takes me -- and what kind of fish I"ll catch.
