We all knew that it was only going to be a matter of time, and it seems like Walmart has decided that they want to make the switch soon. The switch is being rolled out in Fayetteville, Arkansas first, and if Walmart representatives see positive results from their new all self-checkout counters the plan is to implement this in all of their locations.

This will be the first Walmart location without any cashiers and only offers self-checkout according to Fox Business. Although there will be self-checkout hosts at the front of the store to help customers as needed with any issues or if you accidentally scan an item more than once. Those same self-checkout hosts will be available to check out shopper's groceries if asked by the customer, all they have to do is ask.

Walmart is saying they want to make this process as simple for customers as possible, and their employees are always there to assist as needed.

Currently, there is no specific timeframe as to when this test run in Arkansas will be completed to see if this is a transition we will see in all stores but this could reduce the number of labor costs for the giant company which could increase profits which I'm sure the company would like to make happen just as soon as possible.

I think this is going to be a trend that we see across most stores moving forward as a way to cut costs. I don't have an issue with this as long as there is an employee standing by just in case there is an issue. What do you think? Do you want to see self-checkouts only?
