Usher Kicks Off the 2012 American Music Awards With a Climatic Performance
R&B superstar Usher kicked off the 40th annual American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 18) with an energetic performance of three songs from his latest album 'Looking 4 Myself.'
Dressed in all black with red boots, the crooner first performed 'Numb,' his electro-pop song behind an array of laser beams. He then jumped off a platform and landed on a treadmill to sing 'Climax,' his chart-topping ballad of 2012.
While performing his No. 1 hit, Usher was walking in place on the moving track before he started running faster and faster. We knew he was singing live because he could barely catch his breath before segueing into his next sizzling performance of 'Can't Stop Won't Stop.'
Behind a chorus line of female dancers, Usher showed off his impressive footwork which included some pop-locking moves and some two-stepping. Although we are a little disappointed that he didn't perform 'Scream,' another big hit from 'Looking 4 Myself,' we are happy that he could bring us to 'Climax' so early into the show. Bravo, Usher!
