Time-Lapse Video Shows Destruction Of Colorado’s Spring Fire
The devastation of the Spring Fire continues in Colorado, burning nearly 79,000 acres.
The fifth largest fire in the history of Colorado is now only 5% contained and destroying over 100 homes. Officials are continuing to assess and evacuate residents as the fire grows.
Over 2,000 homes have been evacuated in the area of the fire and closing both Highway 160 and Highway 12.
One man has been arrested for starting the fire and is in custody, and over 700 firefighters are currently battling the blaze which has now burned over 86 square miles.
Eighteen areas have already been evacuated with another six set to evacuate, pending the direction of the fire. Shelters for those displaced have been set up in various places as well.
Some things to consider as we make our way through this long, hot, dry summer.
First, do not burn anything. Burn restrictions are in place to try and keep any new fires from cropping up while battling the ones we have. Also, don't throw cigarettes or anything else burning on the ground. Make sure it has been completely extinguished before disposing of it. If you see a fire, report it, no matter how small it may look. Remember the Skipper Island Fire?
Our state is on fire. Let's not add to it.
