Three Lakes Stocked + Ready to Fish Right Now in Grand Junction
It's March in Colorado and you're probably itching to get your hands back on a fishing pole like I am. These are three lakes around Grand Junction that are stocked and ready to be fished.
These three lakes are now stocked with trout and are based on the Colorado Parks & Wildlife's stocking report. The trout that were stocked are approximately 10" according to their website. The information from CPW's stocking report has been updated within the past month.
Island Acres
Both the Old Orchard and Roan's Pond have been recently stocked. As of this past weekend, both lakes are free of ice. The Island Acres section of James. M Robb is right outside of Palisade off of I-70. Both Old Orchard and Roan's Pond have the following species:
- Rainbow Trout
- Black Bullhead
- Bluegill
- Green Sunfish
Riverbend Park
Riverbend Park in Palisade is one of my favorite fishing spots. It's close, convenient and so very peaceful. Riverbend Park was stocked recently with rainbow trout. Although the other species aren't listed on their website, I know from experience Riverbend Park has:
- Rainbow Trout
- Bass
- Carp
- Bluegill
Corn Lake
Corn Lake is another extension of the James M. Robb Colorado River State Park. The Corn Lake section is in Clifton off 32 Road. This makes for an easy fishing trip. The species in Corn Lake are bountiful and include:
- Bass
- Carp
- Black Bullhead
- Black Crappie
- Bluegill
- Green Sunfish
- Rainbow Train
Time to grab those rods and hit the water.
