Five Things You Might Not Know About Central City
I was lucky enough to spend the past weekend in Central City and I was not disappointed. Besides being amazed by Central City, I was also educated. These are five things you might not know about Central City.

Over 300 Fights in One Year
There were over 300 fights in 1861 in Central City. 217 fist fights, 97 revolver fights, 11 Bowie knife fights and one dogfight. All of those fights, but not one single person was killed. Over 150 years later, I didn't see one fight while I was there.

Stone and Brick Buildings Serve a Purpose
Almost all of Central City is covered in building made of stone and brick.This is because in 1874 a fire destroyed most of the buildings in the town. When they rebuilt, they chose something not as flammable.

Singing It Loud and Proud Since 1878
Central City has a lot of history and historical building to match. One of the historical buildings is the Central City Opera House. This Opera House opened in 1878 and is the oldest operating Opera House in the nation.

Rush of Gold, Rush of Green
Central City's gold rush began in 1859. Now there's a different rush there, a rush of green. I was surprised to see so many recreational marijuana dispensaries in Central City. It's not a bad thing, but it seemed like there was one on every corner.

Great Place to Turn 26
After spending a weekend in Central City, I have to say it's a great place to turn 26. From the casinos to the history, it was a weekend for the books. I kept telling my boyfriend that our trip to Central City is the best thing he could have got me for my birthday. I'm sure Central City would be a great place to turn any age.
