The Longest Drive-Thru Line I’ve Ever Seen in Grand Junction
I've been some long drive-thru lines in my day, but this has got to be the longest one I have ever been a part of in Grand Junction.
You will notice in the photo above, I'm about to pull up to the window to get my food. The cars to the right are also in the drive-thru line, except when they get to the pick-up window, they still have to go all the way around the building.
At the time this photo was taken, I had already been in that other line, which wrapped all the way around the Chick-Fil-A building. I had actually placed my order near the front door of the restaurant where I first got in line. From there, it was two lanes of drive-thru traffic. Essentially, the drive-thru line wrapped around the building 1-1/2 times.
When I placed my order, I estimated my wait time would be 20-25 minutes. Boy, I was wrong.
The total wait time was an impressive 11 minutes. I have been in drive-thru lines of less than 5 cars and waited longer than 11 minutes. There must have been 25 cars in line. This crew was amazingly efficient and it was an amazing performance.
Restaurant drive-thrus across the Grand Valley have been seeing plenty of action in recent weeks with restaurant dining rooms closed. With any luck, all of this extra practice will make them more efficient on the other side of the pandemic, once restaurant dining returns to normal. Regular sized drive-thru lines ought to be a breeze after this.
