NAMI is hosting a 5K walk to make more people aware that mental illness is not a burden that you have to face alone. The walk will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

The Western Slope chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is having a 5K walk at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens to get people together to show support for and help educate those that are dealing with mental illness. The walk will loop around the gardens starting at 10:00 a.m. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. or you can get registered here.

The purpose of NAMI Western Slope is to offer help and support to those affected by mental illness in Western Colorado with education and support. NAMI Western Slope is there to assist in making better lives for the Western Slope families who are affected by any mental illness, including; schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, panic disorder and others.

NAMIws offers free classes, group support and even limited legal assistance, including helping to support and create laws aimed to benefit those with mental illness. Mental illness is not something to feel ashamed about, and help is available through NAMI Western Colorado. Come out and support this great event and help others cope with their own illness.
