Take a Look at Western Colorado in December During the 1940s

Welcome to December. It's hard to believe we're in the final month of 2020. Take a trip back to the 1940s and see what Western Colorado Decembers used to look like with these Bob Grant photos.

I was sorting through some of my grandpa's photos over the Thanksgiving weekend. I noticed a handful of shots dated December 1948 and December 1949. The year 2020 will mark my 50th December in Grand Junction. To my eyes, our Christmas season has changed quite a bit. Then again, some things haven't changed at all.

With that in mind, it stands to reason the month of December in the Grand Junction area has changed quite a bit since the 1940s. I think you'll agree, though, some things have remained constant.

While making the rounds over the Thanksgiving weekend I spotted a number of Christmas tree lots. Oddly, a Grand Junction Christmas Tree lot looks about the same now as it did in 1948. Okay, we now have little credit card machines hooked to our phones. That is certainly something they didn't have in 1948.
