The section of US Highway 550 between Ouray and Silverton over Red Mountain Pass has been getting a facelift over the last couple of seasons and now the work is done, driving should be less stressful.

The town of Ouray, Colo. had a rare opportunity to witness a C-17 Globemaster fly over the town earlier today (Sept. 1).

Just another reason to love Colorado.

A red Ford F-150 belonging to Edgar Vargas was found just off of Red Mountain Pass, on Wednesday. The Ouray County Coroner identified the body found at the site as 18-year-old Edgar Vargas.

The small plane that crashed into the Ridgway Reservoir near Ouray, Colo. on March 22 was pulled from the icy waters yesterday (March 27) and the five victims have been identified.

Ouray County officials will not be able to recover the wreckage from Saturday's Ridgway Reservoir plane crash until Wednesday of this week.

Highway 550 over Red Mountain Pass remains closed as work continues to make the road safe following a rockslide earlier this month.

What better way to show a lowland friend the beautiful state of Colorado by taking him over Red Mountain Pass to see the Aspen changing colors and mountains blanketed with snow.
