What is A Super Flower Blood Moon?
Most people have heard of full moons and even blue moons, but what the heck is a Super Flower Blood Moon?
Let's break it all the way down. According to CBS Denver, there's a pretty simple explanation for the strange name.
SUPER: This moon will be bigger and brighter, making it Super!
FLOWER: You know the saying, April showers bring May flowers right? Well because May is known for blooming flowers, the moon is referred to as a flower moon.
BLOOD: Fear not the blood moon, the name simply comes from the reddish appearance that the moon will give off.
When Can Colorado See the Super Flower Blood Moon?
Coloradans will be able to see the stars and the Super Flower Blood Moon on May 15, 2022. The SFBS will be visible at approximately 8 PM and will be responsible for a total lunar eclipse.
The total lunar eclipse will be one of the longest eclipses at approximately 84 minutes according to Forbes.
On July 27, 2018, the longest total lunar eclipse lasted for one hour and 42 minutes.
Also if you weren't aware eclipses never come alone. According to Time and Date, "a solar eclipse always occurs about two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse."
When Is The Next Blood Moon?
The next blood moon is on November 16, 2022.
Just 8 days prior, however, will be a lunar eclipse on November 8, 2022. Plus, before that will be a partial solar eclipse on October 25, 2022. See? They come in pairs!
