Students Want to Spread Photos of Mass Shooting Victims
A student-led campaign is underway by some students at Colorado's Columbine High School to draw attention to gun violence.
The campaign, called #MyLastShot was launched recently. The campaign is asking students to sign a pledge that in the event they are killed in a mass shooting, graphic photos of their death be spread across social media platforms. I think the hope is that the photos will create a public outcry against guns.
The campaign has gotten the support of some Colorado legislators. Now, Colorado's Red Flag law is on the verge of being signed into law by the governor. Colorado voters may want to take a second look at the individuals they are sending to Denver.
Of course, in the wake of recent shootings across the country, other students in the nation have been campaigning for increased gun control, which they apparently believe will make their schools safer.
The fight for/against gun control is far from over. The battle rages on - some of it based on facts - some of it based on emotions. While we all want our schools to be safer, it's possible the students behind this campaign don't understand the full ramifications of their actions and what they say they want to accomplish.
