Special Olympic Colorado Summer Games Coming to Grand Junction

Coming up this weekend June 9 is the Special Olympics Colorado Summer Games.

This is one of the best events that Colorado has to offer.

The events will be going on at Colorado Mesa University and Stocker Stadium. There will be over 1,200 athletes with disabilities competing in the Summer Games.

The Special Olympics make sure nobody is left out and everyone gets to participate. I've talked to a few people who have had relatives in the Special Olympics. They told me that after their relatives got done with it that it was the best thing that they have experienced.

They left the Special Olympics feeling a sense of pride in what they accomplished. I was also told that they left there with new friends that will last them a lifetime.

Even if you don't have a family member involved you can still get out there and cheer everybody on. I know I am going to go out there and make sure that I am heard. This event is huge and I can't wait for it to start.
