The Denver Zoo has captured footage of the most endangered cat in the Americas, the Andean cat. This little kitty is one of the sneakiest (and cutest) cats in the world.

The Andean cat is one of the top five endangered cats in the entire world. The cats live in secluded areas at over 10,000 feet in elevation. Denver Zoo Associate Preston Sowell wanted to help this animal and went on a mission to do.

Preston is committed to preserving the Lake Sibinacocha Watershed in the Peruvian Andes, which is the cat's domain. According to the Denver Zoo's website, this a very fragile ecosystem due to climate change, mining and other factors.

Preston, who has been featured on National Geographic, was familiar with working at such a high elevation. Preston teamed up with the Denver Zoo's Peru Program Coordinator to go to the Peruvian Andes and capture footage of the Andean cat.

According to the Denver Zoo's website, Preston and his colleagues are building an even stronger case for protecting this area. Along with the footage of the Andean cat, data on the area's biodiversity and evidence of submerged ancient Incan ruins make for a great case.

Preston is going on another expedition this year and the ultimate mission is to protect the Andean cat by protecting the area. Way to go, Preston, I hope to see the Andean cat off of the endangered species list.
