University of Colorado police officer Garrett Swasey is being remembered as a person who enjoyed serving the public. Officer Garrett was 44.

According to CBS news, officer Garrett Swasey responded to a call outside his jurisdiction and was shot to death inside the Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs.

Swasey was a husband and father of two, and an active member of his church. Moving to Colorado from Massachusetts, to follow is dream to become a Olympic skater, he was a nationally ranked figure skater in his youth. He practiced with professional skater Nancy Kerrigan.

Office Swasey is being remembered today as a hero.
