Currently, 10 states and the District of Columbia ban any cell phone use while operating a motor vehicle. According to a new survey from AutoTrader.com, though, most people would be okay if this restriction spread to the rest of the country.

Fifty-seven percent support a legislative ban on talking on a mobile device while driving.

Opinion is close to unanimous when it comes to texting and driving -- 90 percent of the poll's respondents want that outlawed. It is currently illegal to text and drive in 39 states, as well as Washington, DC. It is currently against the law in Colorado for drivers under the age of 18 to have any cell phone use while driving and it is illegal to text and drive for anyone.
