With the hustle and bustle of daily life, isn't it nice to know there are places you can stop and take in some quiet and beauty? I did this by mistake.

This weekend, I was out doing my normal running around, and I took a wrong turn onto Power Road. Well, I thought it was wrong, but it turned out to be one of the best things I have done in quite a while.

Hidden in a quiet little pocket of Grand Junction is a place I found called the Connected Lakes. I figured, "what the heck" and so I drove in, and stepped out next to the water. The view and the quiet took over my busy mind. This little pocket in Grand Junction became one of my new favorite places. I had the chance to feed ducks, and there were even a few folks out there fishing. What a great place to make an accidental turn.

As I returned to my truck, I thought to myself "I wonder what other places are like this, that are close?" So I decided to keep driving.

I started up the Redlands Parkway and ran across many places where you could pull over and take in some amazing views of the mountains. Again, quiet was the rule, and the wildlife was everywhere.

As I headed back home, I ran across one more place that looked like a great place to stop called the Blue Heron Section on the waterfront. This area located off of Broadway had a few more people, but I found they were there for various reasons. Peace and quiet, walking and biking, but it was a relaxing time for me, sitting by the water and taking in the views.

I would be curious to find out what other areas of Grand Junction have beautiful views and a serene environment. What are some gems that you have found, on purpose or even by mistake?
