Second Attempt to Recall Governor Polis Falls Short
There have been a lot of very vocal people who have spoken out about Governor Polis lately, especially with how he has handled the pandemic here in the state of Colorado. In fact, many of those people often went to social media asking for the Governor to be recalled, but according to The Denver Post, the group that was attempting to make this happen didn't submit the required number of signatures in time.
It's the second year in a row that an effort to recall Governor Polis wasn't successful due to not turning in the required amount of signatures and now the group will be asking for an extension.
The group needed to collect 631,266 valid signatures and have them to the Secretary of State's office by 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon to be verified before they could begin the process of a recall election.
The state deadline for signatures is set by state law and at this point, the only way to continue moving this forward would be for the group to petition a court for an extension to collect and submit the number of valid signatures needed. No one is certain if an extension like this would even be granted.
If there is one thing that 2020 has shown us as far as politics it's that voting is more important than ever. If you're not happy with the job that your elected officials are doing make sure that you're doing all you can to put people in office that you can be proud of and are a good representation of our community.
