Colorado Residents Remember Scariest Skiing Experiences
The ski industry is one of the biggest things that the state of Colorado is known for. Ski resorts across the state like Vail, Aspen, and Telluride are world-famous and attract celebrities not just to go skiing, but many have homes nearby.
Colorado's ski resorts have also hosted countless events involving the sport including, but certainly not limited to, The X-Games which makes its way to Aspen each year.
However, if you've ever tried skiing or snowboarding, you probably realized pretty quickly that it's not only difficult when you're first starting out, but it can be dangerous as well.
This is why skiers and riders are encouraged to wear helmets and avoid parts of the ski mountains that are off-limits.
Curious, I posted a question on Facebook asking Colorado residents what the scariest skiing or snowboarding experience they'd ever had was, and this is what they said.
Colorado Residents Remember Scary Skiing Experiences
Many of the scariest skiing or snowboarding experiences as told by these Colorado residents involved being injured. For example, Jammie broke her tailbone so badly that she had to be carried down the mountain on a stretcher, Alexander hit a tree and broke a rib, and Ben nearly suffocated after wiping out off-limits.
Others told stories that didn't necessarily require a trip to the hospital but were scary close calls. Rebecca had quite a frightening experience with her toddler, Ashley lost a ski mid-jump, and Chris claims to have escaped a pack of wolves and grizzly bears, though we're not sure how true that story is.
