Colorado Tip Pays Off

It was June 14, 2022, when the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit received a tip about the possible sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy by an educator at Mitchell High School.

Police began an investigation into the allegations and approximately a month later found enough evidence to serve their suspect, Sarah Jones, with an arrest warrant.

Couch Surfing Teen Falls Victim to Colorado Educator

Fox21 reports that the former Mitchell High School student was facing homelessness in the fall of 2021 and staying with various friends when Jones offered up her home as a residence.

The teen told police that he moved in with Jones, her husband, and children sometime before or after Christmas in 2021.

Allegedly Jones made her first transgression in the Spring of 2022 when she "drunkenly" began kissing the teen's neck. The teen says that he and Jones went to his bedroom where she continued kissing him, but things did not escalate further on that occasion.

Colorado Teen + Phone Evidence Tells Police Everything

The 16-year-old reported to authorities that he and Jones first had sex in her bedroom when her husband was hospitalized and her two children were downstairs.

The teen stated that he and Jones had sexual relations approximately 5 times, but that she asked him to have sex with her about 10-20 times. The teen also stated that Jones sent him large amounts of money through an app and would give him cash whenever he needed it.

Police reportedly recovered  4,777 instant messages between the teen and Jones. KKTV obtained Jones' arrest record which is said to reveal messages such as these:

“I’m not strong enough to control my love," Jones wrote to the teen. A text from the teen states, “I want you as a mom. I mean the other stuff can happen but I want you as a mom.”

Jones replies, “Babe, you have me as a mom.”

When authorities searched Jones' phone they found search queries for permanently deleting text messages and how to know if a police report has been filed against you.
